Volunteer

Your support can make a difference in the lives of Oakland students and families.

To help schools reach every senior during the January – March financial aid season, we are asking the Oakland and East Bay community to volunteer with us. Volunteers can support in any of the following roles:

Scholarship Application Reviewer:
Must read and score scholarship applications in March in order to assist MFEF staff in selecting and awarding our college bound youth! Volunteers will be responsible for 10-15 applications over a 2 week period in March.

FAFSA and CA Dream Act Volunteer: Assist students and their families at “Cash for College” events and FAFSA Crunch Days at specific school sites with completing their financial aid applications and other forms of public aid in order to ensure maximum amount of financial aid is received.

Scholarship Writing Volunteer:
Assist Juniors and Seniors with writing their scholarship application essays.

College Student Coach:
As this role is still being developed, MFEF would like to recruit community members who are interested in coaching recent OUSD graduates in basic professional skill sets.
