ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork is made up of a student's mental health especially as a newcomer. Various concepts of emotions and feelings are mixed, such as stress, sadness, loss, confusion, anger, or not feeling anything during unexpected changes such as the pandemic or part of emigration. My visual artwork connects the protection of teachers to their students during crises, also the connection of planning their future goals such as education. Detail my experience as an international student, I have had constant changes in my life such as language, study, environment, or others. The ”girl” interpreting fear, and overcoming obstacles. I also believe that I transmitted protection, the ”teacher” meaning the guide and protect the health and goals of a student. Even colors like red transmitted as a negative for the loss of someone special. Also the shapes used in the character, the ”clock" represents the past, present and future time. The shapes of ”eyes” give the characteristics of our surroundings showing insignificant views. The ”mortarboard” is a very important message for a student, trying to ensure a personal life. The ”broken bulb” represents that any trip, whether by sea, land or air, can be difficult but not impossible to accomplish. Also the ”dark background” means the young person sometimes feels that nobody but in reality is unique and we give light even in a very dark place. And the people in the background below represent how students struggle with their own mental health and insufficient help from teachers to overcome the problem. Finally, colors also represent values such as beliefs, behaviors, and attitudes in society.
