ABOUT THE AWARD

We know that in order to create a world with educational systems that truly uplift the health and wealth of the communities they serve, we must listen to the people closest to the problem: the students! Through a partnership between MFEI and the Oakland Unified School District’s All City Council Student Union, the Making A-G Real Multimedia Scholarship award is offered to Oakland Unified high school seniors. The award was created to invite the creativity and vision of local youth into the conversation about what quality education should look and feel like in Oakland schools.

Awardees are eligible to receive $1000 to attend a two-year postsecondary institution or training program, or $2000 to attend a four-year postsecondary institution.

Making A-G Real awardees are selected through a public, community voting process and from judging by members of the OUSD All City Council governing board.

These pillars are meant to be broad and we encourage applicants’ own interpretations of them.
