ARTIST STATEMENT
I wrote a poem about my journey through not getting the support I needed because I was scared I would be deemed as dumb and be humiliated. I longed to be heard but even if I dared scream I wouldn't be heard. I was all alone left to struggle. I had just started High school and was dealing with how I could deal with all the new things I was learning and being put under so much pressure. Student Support is something I have always been passionate about because it was something I was too scared to ask for. I sat down in a silent room and started to come up with rough drafts. I thought about how I felt in the moment and how I could write that into words. i thought about what words would best fit the situation I was in. My mind raced at a thousand Miles and I wouldn't stop until I got something good written down. This poem may not sit with a lot of people but its something that I decided was best to write because it was what best connected me to the prompt.
